Last Surviving World War I Veteran Frank Buckles Honored by Britain

British Secretary of Defense John Hutton honored Frank Buckles, the last surviving U.S. veteran of World War I, yesterday with a painting that depicted the close relationship between American and British troops. Hutton traveled to Buckles’ home to do so.

Buckles drove ambulances and motorcycles in England and France during World War I. He is currently 108 years old. In the past Buckles has participated in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC.
