Mysterious Headstone Appears in Virginia Cemetery

A mysterious headstone has appeared in a cemetery in Isle of Wight, VA. The headstone was discovered in February 2009 when an official was on his annual walkthrough. The headstone is surrounded by freshly packed earth. It is apparently in honor of Jesse Barlow who according to the stone passed away in 1779 and was a Revolutionary War soldier. It is not known how the gravestone got there. No one has been able to find a record of a Jesse Barlow being buried there in the cemetery’s records either. Read more.
