Ernest Borgnine to Participate in 2009 National Memorial Day Parade

Academy Award winning actor Ernest Borgnine will appear in the 2009 National Memorial Day Parade as the honorary marshal for the World War II section of the parade. Mr. Borgnine won his Academy Award for best actor in Marty. He has appeared in about two hundred movies or TV shows. He is the only actor to star in all four “Dirty Dozen” films. He starred as General Worden in the Dirty Dozen movies.

Mr. Borgnine served ten years in the military before leaving in 1945 as a gunner’s mate 1st class. He became an honorary U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer in 2004. The American Veterans Center is grateful for Mr. Borgnine’s service to our country and looks forward to seeing him at the parade.
