The Baseball Heroes of WWII

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Americans of all backgrounds stepped up, ready to do their part to win World War II.

Among those were many of Major League Baseball’s greatest stars. A few years back, several of those veterans and ex-ballplayers joined the American Veterans Center’s annual conference to share their stories. Included were Hall of Fame pitchers Bob Feller and Warren Spahn, Negro League star Buck O’Neil, as well as Bert Sheppard and Tommy Henrich.
