Veterans in Rural Areas to Receive More Help from the VA

The VA is working on an initiative that will bring healthcare to veterans in rural areas of the United States. Many veterans currently have to travel miles to receive VA healthcare. The plan is to create more mobile clinics and more outpatient clinics. Also the VA is working on expanding the partnership between federal and community health partners and increase the use of telemedicine programs.

The Ohio VA healthcare system has been awarded a $1 million for this project. A total of $21.7 has been designated to improve care in rural areas. In the past year, four new mobile clinics and 10 new rural outreach clinics have been created. To read more on this topic, click here.
