Guy Stern Appointed Interim Director of Holocaust Memorial Center

Guy Stern Guy Stern was appointed interim director of the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills, MI. He takes over the position from its founder Rabbi Charles Rosensveig, who recently passed away. Stern has directed the center’s International Institute for the Righteous since 2003.

Stern was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States as a teenager in 1937. He fought in World War II, participating in Operation Overlord. He was also the sergeant in charge of the survey section of the prisoner-of-war enclosure of the 1st U.S. Army for which he was awarded the Bronze Star.

Stern is professor emeritus of German at Wayne State University. Stern shared his experiences at the World War II Committee’s 2004 conference. To read more, click here.
